l mean we all know it shows full images of the brain, but while checking for epilepsy, would it be of good help? And is there anything better than this (other than an EEG) to do the job?

Would a MRI help in an epilepsy diagnosis

I have a friend who has Epilepsy. EEG is are the best way to go.

MRI's, show the brain but when it comes in contact with sounds.

EEG's, show the brain when it comes in contact with light, while you are sleeping, what happens when you become nervous (not knowing when the light is goin to be shown)

Hopes it helps =D

An MRI could show if you have any physical conditions that could cause epilepsy, like a tumor or a scar. A PET scan shows blood flow in the brain, which could show if a certain spot is not ''working'' correctly. Unfortunately about 75% of the time the cause of epilepsy is not that obvious and wo not be some kind of physical defect, and any further testing would be with something like a more sensitive EEG.

An MRI may be helpful. It uses magnetic imaging to specifically target a certain area of the body. You may not have an MRI if you have any type of metal in your body, or if you have a certain type of heart stint. Titanium is acceptable however. Another type of radiology test that may help is called a PET scan, it uses a nuclear med. type IV contrast. These may show if there is a tumor or growth that might cause seizures.

You could check with the 24 hour nurse hotline. They have registered nurses available to answer questions like this anonymously. The number is 1-877-825-5276. Good luck
